INTERVIEW: KJ-52 - Fishes, Loaves & Hip-Hop

August 26th, 2006 | Interviews | Source: Christian Music Planet (27)

At a glance, KJ-52—or Jonah Sorrentino, as his wife knows him — is an unassuming, easygoing “average joe” with a little house in Tampa, Fla. Few people would recognize him if they bumped into him on the street, though “Dear Slim,” the rapper’s controversial response to mainstream rapper Eminem’s song “Stan,” aired on MTV’s “Total Request Live,” causing a huge stir among viewers.

In an industry where Christian rap artists barely get airplay, this exposure is rare. But for the artist whose name stands both for “knowledge and justification” and the five loaves and two fishes used miraculously by Jesus in the Gospels, it has been hard work that has landed him in his current position.
