An in-your-face documentary out this weekend is raising eyebrows, raising hackles and raising questions about evangelizing to young people. Speaking in tongues, weeping for salvation, praying for an end to abortion and worshipping a picture of President Bush — these are some of the activities at Pastor Becky Fischer’s Bible camp in North Dakota, “Kids on Fire,” subject of the provocative new documentary, “Jesus Camp.”

Wow. That’s just scary. And I grew up in Assemblies Of God. My biggest problem with this is the age of the children. Let kids be kids. I would be freaking out if my six year old was this “on fire” for God. To me, this just looks like brainwashing. How is the outside world going to view this? Like horrific brainwashing. Like adult crazies training second graders to do their shouting. Does an eight year old really understand the full concept of abortion, let alone the process that needs to happen to even have a kid. Good grief. And balling and speaking in tounges and being “slain in the spirit” at this young of an age? I don’t know. I’m really interested to see what others will say about this - and from a Christian perspective.
