Is there a Christian voting bloc backing certain Australian Idol competitors, or is the tradition of gospel singing behind their success? By Katherine Kizilos. It’s a blazing spring day but inside Dallas Brooks Hall, hundreds of young people are moving in the dim mist created by a fog machine, singing of their love for Jesus Christ. Worshippers are dancing in a tangled, joyful huddle before the stage, crossing their hands over their heads to show they are prepared to carry their cross, jumping up and down to the music so that the floor shakes.
